FIONA ABICARE completed a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture at the Victorian College of the Arts (1994) and Honours in Sculpture at RMIT University (1999). In 2006 she was awarded a Masters of Arts in Interior Design from RMIT University, and she undertook an Australia Council London Studio residency in 2012. Abicare has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions including, most recently, In some places it’s illegal to hang your washing out to dry, curated by Rosemary Forde for Sarah Scout Presents, (2014); Why not walk backward?, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne (2014); De-Pose, Sarah Scout Presents (2013); Scandinavian Freestyle, foyer commission, Hero Building, Russell Street Melbourne, (2013); Appointments, curated by Spiros Panigirakis for Sarah Scout Presents (2012); NEW11, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (2011); ART#2, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Regional Touring (2011); Artist Actor, Artist Auteur, Sarah Scout Presents, Melbourne Art Fair (2010) and COVERS, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne (2008-09).
